The City of Angel’s Community Choirs, a not-for-profit organization, is a brand new center for the Performing Arts right here in the San Fernando Valley dedicated to enhance the musical life of singers from ages 6 years and up.
Our strategic presence in the San Fernando Valley allows its residents an opportunity to find a high quality program that is local and comparable with first rate choral ensembles otherwise located in the city.
Our 2012/2013 season began with our children performing in their very own Disney Showcase this past summer. Our COACC kids were part of history as they performed at California Adventure’s newest stage. With no time to waist, our season continued with COACC Fall Follies Dinner Theater. It was night of fine dining and entertainment with music and scenes taken from selected Disney animated movies and shows.
On Thanksgiving weekend both adult and children’s choirs traveled to New York to sing at Carnegie Hall with Maestro John Rutter. Artistic Director, Richard Medrano served as guest conductor and took stage with our Master Chorale for their Carnegie debut. Following this tour, we performed our Winter Concert in December.
This spring many of our singers are back with the Los Angeles Opera for a performance of Benjamin Britten’s Noyes Fludde. Following this event, we are proud to announce our first inaugural COACC Choral Festival. This year we will honor the community of SANDY HOOK and hope to bring a measure of healing through the innocent sounds of children’s choirs. Adult choirs are invited as well and will all combine forces in a performance of Prayer for the Children. We will follow this with our May 17 Spring Concert which is also in observance of the Sandy Hook community.
Finally, we end our season with a San Francisco tour where we will perform at various venues including the Mission Dolores.
